After what’s been an incredibly interesting week for me, contributing to Planned Parenthood’s #sexedsaves campaign, I decided it was time to create some kind of central listing for all the cool people I’ve met on Twitter as well as supporters of the #15andCounting & #sexedsaves campaigns. If you’re on Twitter already, go and follow them and give them some support — even if it’s just re-tweeting some of the important messages they have.
Until Twitter activates their much-anticipated Lists function, I decided to just post the whole listing on my own blog. Some of these people are clearly highly active Sexual Rights campaigners and some are simply people who felt strongly enough about the issues to share the campaigns with others within their own social networks. The beauty of Twitter is that everyone’s contribution is visible so I’ve included as many as I could. Naturally, it’s not comprehensive. That’s where you come in. If you have any suggestions for other campaigners, please add them to the comments and I’ll be more than happy to keep the list updated. Similarly, if you feel that you want your name removed for whatever reason, please let me know:
UPDATE: You can now follow everyone on this list with one click thanks to the fantastic TweepML although I had to split the list in two so you need to click both these buttons:

Update: I rather carelessly forgot to include my own Twitter account on this list!

Thanks to you both! You know, you’re my first ever blog comments so I really appreciate you taking the time. I’ve added your requests to the list. Hope it can grow much larger — I really like the idea of building a united and global network of SRH activists on Twitter.
Hey Chris — @womenadvocates isn’t on the list. See our vital June 2009 article, “Doctors Campaign for Safe Abortion in Zambia,” — Women News Network — WNN: http://womennewsnetwork.net/2009/06/12/doctors-...
I second the rec for @womenadvocates — and would also like to self-plug for @abortioneers. Our blog focuses most heavily on abortion issues, but we are strong advocates for comprehensive sexual health & reproductive justice and are very happy to be getting to know others who share this agenda via Twitter.
Great list. It is important to show solidarity.
@prochoiceme is a new twitterer.

Thanks so much for the mention and, more importantly, for compiling this great resource for repro right/sexual health advocates! This is FAR better than any Follow Friday could ever be — thanks so much for all your awesome work!
My stars! I’m just a small town doc, and flattered to be included on your list!
In my mind there’s no reason a “small town doc” shouldn’t be on this list. Social media has broken down boundaries and flattened hierarchies. Besides which, the global SRH movement (of which IPPF is a part) is a movement driven by people working at the grass roots who understand the reality people face. I’m “just a graphic designer” but I feel strongly enough about injustice and sexual rights to do something. What do you think?
I think you’re doing a really good job at something important. I think I RT messages that are important and need to be spread around, but don’t really generate much signifgant content on my own. Still, it’s nice to be noticed
Thanks! I just figured I needed a better way of sharing the SRH champions to new Twitter users — maybe we should set up a “Twibe” or some other way to convene everyone?
I just read your (excellent) blog– of COURSE you qualify! =)
Thanx for RTing the list too. I heard of Hoja a few months back — sounds like an ace organization. And did you once work for SPW too?
Thank you so much for including me. This list is awesome! I’ll be following all of the ones I am not already following!
Oh, I might have to bookmark this. Thanks a lot. I do a bit, I’m involved in Advocates for Action (not on Twitter) and occasionally blog about sexual health stuff, but it’s all mixed in with other guff. I’m @evilflea on Twitter if you are interested, but not sure I really qualify for the list.
I volunteered for them in 2004, and I still volunteer for them in the UK — Advocates for Action is part of SPW, campaigning on sexual health policy.
Please add my name too, milindarj
